Flavour Categories
Every flavour sits in one or more of these 11 families. It is the quickest way into the database.
Category is the first thing worth knowing about a shisha flavour, because it predicts how it behaves in a mix better than the name on the tub does. A fruity base forgives a rushed pack. A mint will cool and lift whatever sits under it. A creamy needs a lighter coal or it turns flat. Most flavours sit in more than one family, which is exactly why two tubs both labelled “apple” can smoke nothing alike.
The counts below add up to more than 869 for that reason: a berry and mint blend is filed under both. Pick a family to see every flavour in it, ranked by sweetness, with the brands that lead it and what the pairing engine sends it towards.
Where to Start
- New to shisha. Start fruity or sweet. They are the most forgiving of heat and the hardest to get wrong.
- Bowl running too sweet. Reach for citrus or mint rather than adding a third sweet flavour.
- Want a longer session. Berry and woody hold their flavour further into a bowl than tropical or citrus.
- Smoking dark leaf. Spicy, woody and berry stand up to it. Floral and creamy tend to get buried.
